In the past 30 days, over twenty million Americans over the age of 12 have used an illegal drug. Drug and alcohol abuse affects not only the individual, but the family and the community. Each April we will be celebrating our community’s efforts to reduce the stigma around addiction. We will remind our community that drug and alcohol prevention works, and that recovery is possible. The event will feature live music, food, raffles and giveaways, community resources, and interactive and educational activities for all ages. In conjunction with the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, community members will have the opportunity to dispose of their unused, unwanted, and expired prescription medications during the event. By disposing of these unwanted prescription drugs, community members are reducing access for our youth and young adults, and improving the overall health and wellness of our community. Community Day: Celebrating Prevention! is made possible through the efforts of the Partners for Success (PFS) Coalition and the Delaware County Heroin Task Force.
The 2nd Annual Community Day: Celebrating Prevention will take place April 23rd, 2016 at Rose Tree Park!
